Importance of Web Security

As technology is reaching new milestones, data is becoming more vulnerable to hackers and malware attacks. It is becoming increasingly challenging for agencies and businesses to keep their private information secure. Data security is one of the most important features a service has to offer. It builds a relationship of trust with the people and increases customer loyalty.

Web Security refers to keeping sensitive information safe from cyber-attacks and hackers. Without an effective security policy in place, businesses become vulnerable and have a higher chance of losing customers. If the attacks are not controlled from the beginning, malware can spread from one computer to another, making it extremely difficult to track its origin.

There are a number of ways through which you can make your website secure. One of the most common practices is implementing HTTP. HTTP uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) that keeps the sensitive data encrypted and secure from malware-attacks.

You can also implement the following security tips to avoid the risk of security breaches:

  • Two Factor Authorization

Two factor authorization can help if someone tries to access your website from a new IP address. You are immediately sent a notification via a text message to verify if that was you. This helps prevent any unauthorized access to your data.

  • Secure Network

While entering sensitive information like bank or credit card details, make sure you are using a secured network. If the address starts with HTTPS (ends with an “s”), it is secure. Also, avoid clicking on emails and links that seem suspicious. Sometimes a click is all a hacker needs to get into your system.

  • Use Strong Passwords

Use passwords that are harder to guess. They should be more than 8 characters long and have a combination of upper-case letters, lower case letter and special characters. Do not use English words or phrases as they can be easily guessed.

  • Use More Than One Email Address

Use more than one email for your accounts. For instance, do not use your social media email as your financial account email. This prevents losing all your data if you are hacked by restricting access to accounts that were set up with a different email.
